Increase to Biosecurity Cost Recovery Charge
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) is expanding biosecurity activities to address the growing risk posed by hitchhiker pests.
As a result for these expanding activities, starting January 16 2023, there will be an increase to the biosecurity cost recovery charge on Full Import Declarations for goods arriving in Australia by sea.
There is no increase to the charge for goods arriving in Australia by air.
The increased charges are as shown below –
Full Import Declaration Charge – Air/Post – Will remain the same – $38
Full Import Declaration Charge – Sea – Will change from $49 to $58
This means that Import Processing Charges will increase as shown below –
* For Sea Consignments lodged electronically with a value of $10,000 or less, the Import Processing Charge will increase from $99 to $108
* For Sea Consignments lodged electronically with a value of $10,000 or more, the Import Processing Charge will increase from $201 to $210
* For Air and Post Consignments lodged electronically with a value of $10,000 or less. the Import Processing Charge will remain the same $88
* For Air and Post Consignments lodged electronically with a value of $10,000 or more. the Import Processing Charge will remain the same $190
